With the labor force increasing by over 400,000 each year, Every country has an increasing need to generate employment opportunities for its new labor market entrants, along with those individuals who are already unemployed or underemployed.
Promoting entrepreneurship could help spur job growth and increase the demand for skilled workers. Therefore it is important to train the "entrepreneur enablers" to effectively support young people to implement business start-ups and support small enterprises to grow.
Recent research shows that the majority of jobs in the world are provided by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and that in low-income countries this share is almost 80%. However, these entrepreneurs often face a number of challenges that prevent them from reaching their potential: Strengthening markets for business development services (BDS) is increasingly viewed as a key strategy for enabling small enterprises to obtain the business services they need and want in a sustainable manner.
The International Labour Office (ILO) has designed and tested responses to these challenges. Programs like the ILO's Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) have demonstrated promising results in addressing both the demand and supply of business services for small enterprises. Since its inception, the SIYB package has been used in over 100 countries and has reached more than 23.3 million end-beneficiaries and created more than 10 million jobs in the last ten years. Today, the program is one of the largest of its kind, with a network of over 50,000 SIYB trainers worldwide.
SIYB - Start and Improve Your Business is one of the largest global business management training programs.
It helps small-scale entrepreneurs to start and grow their business, as a strategy to create more and better employment for women and men.
Participants completing the two-week course "Start and Improve Your Business Training of Trainers course" and completely the Training Cycle and conducting "Start and Improve Your Business Training of Entrepreneurs course" will be as SIYB Certified International Trainer.
